Ready for a winter adventure? Bring the kids and explore our Tree Huggers Trail – a fun, free, self-guided journey through the Garden this July. Along the way, you’ll uncover fascinating facts about some of our most magnificent trees and why they’re so important to our world.

How it works

Let’s go tree hugging! Get outside, get curious, and discover the amazing world of trees this winter

What’s it all about?

This trail invites young explorers to discover just how incredible trees really are!

Along the trail, you’ll learn how trees:

  • Provide homes, food and shelter for birds, animals and insects
  • Help cool our environment with their shade and leafy canopies
  • Can live for hundreds (even thousands) of years!
  • Play an important role in protecting and restoring our natural landscapes

There are 10 special trees to discover throughout the Garden - can you find them all?

What to look for

Explore the Garden to find three levels of huggable trees:

  • Full body hugs
  • Hand hugs
  • Long distance hugs

How it works

  • Pick up a Tree Hugger Trail flyer from our welcome signs.
  • Follow the map or the arrows around the Garden to find 10 magnificent trees
  • When you find a tree:
    • match the trees to the correct numbers on the map, or
    • draw a line from the tree to its spot on the map.
